Collection: Lizzie Black AROI

Mousehole artist Lizzie Black AROI paints en plein air and captures the character and atmosphere of the Cornish villages and harbours.

Rooted in a tradition of plein air painting, her work follows the changing patterns of the day, season and weather scape. ‘I strive to capture transitory moments of light, colour, tide and time, and to communicate its beauty and magic on canvas.’

Daughter of artist Bernard Evans, Lizzie started joining her father on painting excursions in and around Penwith at the age of 12. She spent hours watching her father paint and was encouraged to follow in his footsteps in the tradition of plein air painting.

Lizzie developed her formal background in painting through studying at Bristol Art School and Falmouth School of Art. She has exhibited extensively in Cornwall and the West Country and the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Lizzie is currently building an international reputation with works in art collections in the US, Europe and Australia.

Her use of bold brushstrokes produce compelling work and we are thrilled to have Lizzie's work exhibited at Peter Barker Fine Art, and expect her work to become a big hit up here in Rutland!
