Collection: Steve Oxford

Steve Oxford, from Loughborough, is new to painting pictures, having been a firefighter for 30 years up until he retired in 2005.  In 2001, Steve received the Queen’s commendation for bravery after rescuing a trapped worker from a very dangerous situation in a stone-hopper in a quarry. He was also on the scene when the airliner crashed onto the M1 at Kegworth in 1989.

Steve now pursues a more gentle and less dangerous career as a painter! One of twins, he started painting in oils aged 9, after getting some oil paints as a Christmas present from his mum.  In recent times, Steve has done several card designs in watercolour and gouache, but in the last three years has made the switch to Acrylic, which suits his method.

We’re very pleased to exhibit some of Steve’s paintings at Peter Barker Fine Art, adding to our list of fine artists.
